The saga

Although travel may be interesting, getting there can difficult. Nancy thought her trip to Kathmandu was troublesome as the flight arriving over Kathmandu could not land due to low visibility. After an hour of circling, the flight was diverted to Bangladesh. Refueled there and returned to KTM only 5 hours late.

Jim had his own problems, even with the shortest flight, only from Phuket to KTM. His luggage took a day and a half longer to arrive.

Manny and Norma faced the most perils of all. At the gate in LAX, they were told plane delayed. That was at 10PM on Tuesday. By 1AM, the flight was totally cancelled. They went home to return to the airport in morning with a new booking, LAX to Quanshou, China. OK, good.

Enroute a oil leak developed and the flight was diverted to Beijing where the problem fixed. OK, good. Flight takes off to original destination, arriving too late for the next leg. Overnight in hotel.

Next day take off for Kathmandu, but when over that air space, it is too crowded to land and they are diverted to Bangladesh. Sound familiar? Yuk, after a delay, back in the air and arrive back in finally at Kathmandu 6PM on Friday.

Short van ride to the Kathmandu Guest House. Things not so good now. Then the final insult. When they had informed the hotel of their delay in arriving and to cancel the first night of their booking, the hotel cancelled the entire booking. Now, no rooms were available. Hotel staff were wonderful, though, as they put Manny up in the manager's room and added an extra bed in Nancy's room for Norma.

OK . . . Now all good.

Next day, Norma and Manny are all smiles. Thank goodness for flexibility.

Sometimes in life, it's the destination....not the journey. Let the fun begin.
